WTF News: Joker Origin Movie Directed By HANGOVER Director and Produced By Scorsese

WTF News: Joker Origin Movie Directed By HANGOVER Director and Produced By Scorsese

According to Deadline, Todd Phillips is set to direct and co-write a new Joker origin movie set in the 80's with Martin Scorsese to produce. The goal is to hire a younger actor to replace Jared Leto and it sounds as though the film will be separate from the current DC movie-verse.

Conceptually, I like the idea, but I do not think this is really in Todd Phillips's wheelhouse. Road Trip and the first Hangover are classics, but Starsky & Hutch, Due Date and War Dogs aren't exactly great films. The inclusion of Scorsese gives me hope, but I just imagine Todd Phillips making lots of odd choices for a Joker film.
