Tom Cruise Runs Guns and Drugs in New AMERICAN MADE Trailer

Tom Cruise Runs Guns and Drugs in New AMERICAN MADE Trailer

The American Made movie trailer has been released, and it looks good. Here is the takeaway from the trailer:

Pros:

  • It's a drug movie. In most drug movies, it's always fun rooting for the bad-guy or underdog, even though you know things don't usually end up well for them.
  • Tom Cruise. The movie's main character is Tom Cruise.
  • Directed by Doug Liman. The same guy who brought you Swingers, The Bourne Identity, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, and Edge of Tomorrow. Needless to say, he's money baby!
  • Sarah Wright. She seems to play Tom's leading lady in this film. Her IMDB shows she was in the comedy movie 21 & Over. Not much other notable films, but she's very easy on the eyes, and that's never a bad thing.

Cons:

  • It's a drug movie. Meaning we probably know the plot of the story, which is like the other countless drug movies before it. This movie will probably not introduce us to a new story line, or something that has not been seen before in a drug movie.
  • Tom Cruise. The movie's main character is Tom Cruise.
  • Accents. Tom Cruise seems to be using a southern accent. That might seal the fate of this movie.

Yes, I realize I have the same Tom Cruise bullet point on both the pros and cons list. Am I wrong? The guy can be really hit or miss, and some people love his movies while others stay away. So, I guess it just depends on what side of the Cruise fence you stand on.

Will the trailer alone get me to the theater to watch this film? Probably not. Will knowing the director's past works and actress Sarah Wright get me to the theater? Probably yes.

 American Made releases September 29.
